This is a hometown Pontiac IL wedding at its best. There are so many things I could say about Kelly and Ryan. I could talk for days about how smart and cute and caring and funny they are together. How Kelly is both glamorous and hilarious, and that Ryan is ridiculously intelligent. Seriously, they are ALL of those things. But what I want to write about is how this wedding felt.
The bride and I are both from Pontiac IL and so this wedding felt like home. It felt so easy to slip into Kelly’s mom’s house where Kelly was hanging out with her friends, getting ready. Kelly and I were a couple years apart in high school, but we have friends and places and experiences that all overlap. That’s what Pontiac is like. To be from there is to grow up eating Pfaff’s smiley face cookies, and to know that St. Mary’s is the prettiest church in town, and that Humiston Woods is beautiful every single day of the year (but especially in April). It’s knowing that everyone there started out in a small hometown, and that while lots of us moved on, it is so easy to come back home. And usually weddings are about two families joining together, but Ryan and Kelly’s friends and family already blended seamlessly as one large family. I have photos of Kelly’s aunt dancing with Ryan’s niece, and Kelly’s cousin holding the maid of honor’s son. So not only did this wedding feel like home to me, but it also felt inevitable. Like today just made official what had already happened: the perfect blend of two lives together.
There was an amazing group of vendors for this Pontiac IL wedding that added to the sense of coming home:
